{Re}travel

It’s been ages since Keck and I have left Dallas for Oklahoma on Thanksgiving Eve.

Tonight we decided to retravel I-35 to enjoy some time with our parents.

Back in the day it would take us two hours just to get out of Dallas proper. A six-hour trek wasn’t out of the question and arriving at 11 p.m. after working all day wasn’t very relaxing and could make some family situations worse.

Tonight we tried it again. We left at about 4:45 p.m. and arrived in Guthrie around 8:40. Phew, only four hours. That’s thanks to toll lanes that head north through Dallas during rush hour and lead out of town. This toll lane is worth every penny when it comes to making a quick exit from the Big D on Thanksgiving Eve. The 20-minute headstart on the 5 o’clock traffic helped too.

Here’s to a less stressful Thankgsgiving.
