It astounded the people when the Rabbi said you had to be “born again.”
Like I would have done, Nicodemus asked questions. How could this be?
Jesus the Christ was saying, it’s your spirit that has to be reborn. You have to change your mind. You have to align your spirit with the Spirit of God. You have to walk a different way.
Jesus answered, “I tell you the solemn truth, unless a person is born of water and spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must all be born from above.’ The wind blows wherever it will, and you hear the sound it makes, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
John 3:5-8, NET
Nicodemus was so astounded, he didn’t get it. He couldn’t or wouldn’t accept that following Jesus was a matter of allowing God’s spirit to work in him was being.
Rebirth is a mystery.
But aligning my spirit with God’s Spririt, changing my mind and direction to follow him is always better than I imagine. ❤
