And which of you by worrying can add even one hour to his life? Why do you worry about clothing? Think about how the flowers of the field grow; they do not work or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed like one of these! And if this is how God clothes the wild grass, which is here today and tomorrow is tossed into the fire to heat the oven, won’t he clothe you even more, you people of little faith?
Matthew 6:27-30, New English Translation
I have to admit, I have little faith. I worry about what I wear. Yet, I’ve always had what I needed. I can’t imagine not having a change of underwear. New clothes when I shrink or grow.
I think of all the recent storm victims, the truly needy among us, and think that I need to take care of some of these worries they might have. I’m only rich in good intentions.
I can only meet a small part of the needs of my neighbors in Oak Cliff. But if each one of us does a little bit, we can be the hands and feet of Jesus. I can take care of one or two needs every pay check, and a little bit is better than nothing at all.
We’re collecting school supplies for children in our Community Service Outreach. But good crayons isn’t all the students need. They need shoes, uniforms, and underwear. Their moms need laundry detergent, clothes, and much more. I can help facilitate donations — email me if you wish to join me. ❤
