Dormancy.
I recently purchased some plants from an online nursery. When they arrived the insert was clear. These plants are NOT dead, they are dormant.
Basically, once you plant them they’ll come alive again. And, they did.
I planted hostas in the ground and they perked up immediately, and have been growing like crazy. I planted other plants that were completely brown and they perked up and started growing too.
These plants were forced into dormancy by their external circumstances. But if they went dormant during normal circumstances in their little plot of land with nutrients they’ll enter into real rest. They know deep down in their own DNA when rest is necessary.
As we continue through the days of Lent — we’ll learn how Jesus tells the disciples about a grain of wheat having to die before a harvest. Until then, we rest knowing that our redemption is coming. ❤
