Reject was first used in the 15th century to mean to “refuse to accept.”
And, now I can relate to book authors and writers everywhere. My book proposal has been rejected by the simple passage of time. I submitted it 13 weeks ago. After 12 weeks I was supposed to hear something or assume it’s a pass from the agent.
While I’m a bit disappointed — it wasn’t some unexpected, random rejection. It was fully expected.
Now, I pick myself up, dust myself off, and try another agent and see what happens. Maybe this time, I select agents who take submissions in tandem.
I get to try again.
