{Re}grede

Regrede literally means to go back. I regreded to the gym tonight to lift weights.

It’s been a while since I’ve gone, and Keck had to help me with some stretches to strengthen my shoulders. It felt good to get back there and do what I knew I could do.

I always think it’s really not that big of a deal. I wonder why I don’t just do it.

It’s good for my brain. While I knew this from other recent articles and reading the book Brain Rules, a recent study in rats actually noted that it was helpful in age-related memory loss.

The study finds that weight training, accomplished in rodents with ladders and tiny, taped-on weights, can reduce or even reverse aspects of age-related memory loss. The finding may have important brain-health implications for those of us who are not literal gym rats.
