On Saturday, following an incredibly long and taxing week, not to mention a chaotic morning, I was the lucky recipient of a gift. The concierge at the hotel I was staying at had an extra ticket to a New York production of “Kiss Me Kate.”

I’ve never been to a play in New York. The opportunity to see an off-Broadway show was too good to pass up. I didn’t even look at the seat location, when I said yes.

I scored the ticket only 20 minutes before showtime.

I rushed the 10 blocks to Studio 54. While I had to wait out the first number before I was seated, I was surprised to find myself center stage in the mezzanine. An excellent seat.

I couldn’t believe my good fortune as I watched in utter delight.

Such a fun and surprising gift. I am and was the happiest of recipients.

At the intermission, I chatted with the women beside me. The woman on my right told me that I must have gotten her friend’s ticket.

The woman to my right’s name is Barbara. She told me that she had traveled to New York with her friend who had lost her husband in September. They were there with a group of friends.

Barbara’s grieving friend had the opportunity to see friends of her deceased husband. She chose to visit with them rather than see the play.

I was able to tell Barbara to let her friend know that she couldn’t have left that ticket for a more happy and grateful recipient. It was a tremendous gift to me and was very grateful. ❤
