{Re}constitute

Just add water.

Jesus answered her, “If you had known the gift of God and who it is who said to you, ‘Give me some water to drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.”

John 4:10, NET

I once tried to focus on drinking water during Lent. I would have only water with my meals and to drink. Every time I drank it I was to think of Jesus the Christ as “living water.” I searched to find the meaning in it, this water in which I would never be thirsty again. Like the Samaritan woman I’m astounded by this saying of Christ. How He is enough to sustain me and keep me. To reconstitute me with living water.

Reconstitute means to constitute again or to restore again usually by adding water.

In this part of the world rain was a rarity. Natural springs or stagnant water stored in cisterns were the norm. The well was a life-giving place for the Samaritan woman who had to go for water late in the day.

What a bubbling brook Jesus’ living water must have ignited in her. Her testimony was the spark that turned an entire town to Christ.

When you get reconstituted by living water, what will you do? ❤
