I’ve likely talked about this before. This scripture in Mark where Jesus takes on the Pharisees, yet again.

Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”

Mark 2:27-28

It’s the story where Jesus and the disciples were munching on wheat grain. They were walking through the field snapping off the ripe grain and popping it in their mouths. The Pharisees were quick to judge this simple act as blasphemy and in contradiction to strict adherence to the rules of Sabbath in which you were to do no work. Not even have a snack if you were hungry.

Sabbath was made for humankind, not humankind for the Sabbath. It’s one of those things Jesus the Christ turns on its ear and dares everyone to look at it differently. Sabbath is for US. A day of rest and rejuvenation that allows us to recoup and rejoice. It doesn’t have to be Sunday, but it needs to happen.

It’s another pure gift of holy love poured out for us to revel in. How did your revel in this gift today? ❤
