I’ve wrestled with whether or not this is a real “re” word, because it doesn’t really have anything to do with “back” or “again.” Recondite actually means “difficult or impossible for one of ordinary understanding or knowledge to comprehend.”
But it reminded me of The One who is truly recondite.
“Indeed, my plans are not like your plans,
Isaiah 55:8-11
and my deeds are not like your deeds,
for just as the sky is higher than the earth,
so my deeds are superior to your deeds
and my plans superior to your plans.
The rain and snow fall from the sky
and do not return,
but instead water the earth
and make it produce and yield crops,
and provide seed for the planter and food for those who must eat.
In the same way, the promise that I make
does not return to me, having accomplished nothing.
No, it is realized as I desire
and is fulfilled as I intend.
And, I think about how many times I turn to The Recondite One — the one who left the heavens and came to be here among us — to try to help us understand.
He is incomprehensible, true, pure love. And I run back him again and again. ❤
