In Matthew 23, Jesus rechallenges the Pharisees.
One of the woes Jesus says to the people and his disciples reminds me to challenge myself to choose life.
Woe to you, experts in the law and you Pharisees, hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs that look beautiful on the outside but inside are full of the bones of the dead and of everything unclean. 2In the same way, on the outside you look righteous to people, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.
Matthew 23:27-28
I drove by a cemetery today. The thought crossed my mind that some day I’d be there. There were decorated graves and people who are missed in this life.
As I passed it occurred to me that there’s no resurrection there today. Only dried bones and dust. Waiting.
As I read this scripture tonight, I thought there are a million ways to be whitewashed tombs full of dried bones and dust.
And then the motivational quote in the women’s locker room at the gym said something along the lines of a pretty face and body doesn’t matter, but a beautiful heart and soul does. Life on the inside is what counts. ❤
