There’s an again here. Really there is. Yet, in Oklahoma instead of saying, I’m getting ready to … ” we say, “I’m fixin’ to …”
We say those words in the morning when we’re getting ready for work. I say them in the evening when I’m about to prepare dinner.
I’m fixin’ to … again and again.
I took a long bath the other day. But before I did, I had to get ready. I had to get some water to drink, a towel, a washcloth, some special soap, a nice candle, a book. I had to draw the bath and find the bath salts.
I’m getting ready even now for the season of Lent. Ash Wednesday is just a few days away and as I prepare for it, my heart starts to sing a little.
It’s a beautiful time.
This year, I’m taking on simple meals, the basics. We’re trying to step away from restaurants and delivery and fussy food. We’re looking for simplicity. Instead of beating ourselves up about not going to the gym, we’re going to focus on what we put in our bodies.
In order to do that, we have to stock up on a few basic things and plot out what we’ll do for the next forty days.
Spiritually, I’m deep-diving into Lent, the meaning of the springtime. This may kick up a little dirt. That’s okay, I am getting ready for that, too. ❤
